A Barnsley Based Cycling Club Looking for New Members!
We are a cycling club established in 1949 and based in Birdwell, an ex-coalmining village near Barnsley in the South Yorkshire area of the UK. Our membership catchment area extends across Barnsley, Sheffield and Rotherham.
Club members participate in a variety of competitive cycling disciplines... Time Trialling, Road Racing and Triathlon. Throughout the year there are training rides at the weekends and, in the summer, on mid-week evenings too. Time Trials and Audax rides (designed to be testing for all but not really competitive) are organised by members of the club. On the non-competitive side of cycling, there are ‘club-run’ rides each Sunday - non-members are welcome to join us on these: just make contact and we’ll advise.
Social events at our cycling club go beyond the Friday meeting at the clubroom -usually the 2nd Friday in the month-and the annual prize presentation dinner. Visits to the bowling alley and ‘the dogs’ also take place.
