Glorious weather over the Easter weekend saw members of Birdwell Whelers taking full advantage.
On Good Friday Trevor Mayne rode the Buxton CC Mountain time trial at Longnor in the Peak District. His time of 1h 1m 52s over the two laps placed him 8th in a field of 36.
On Saturday Dave Scargill rode in the Derek Smith Memorial road race run by the LVRC. (League of Veteran Racing Cyclists) at the Brownlee Cycle Circuit at Weetwood in Leeds. After 30 laps of the 1 mile circuit Scargill finished in the main bunch.
Also on Saturday John Woodhouse rode in the 200km Double Dutch Audax event starting and finishing in Huntingdon on a route through March, Kings Lynn and Spalding in the Fens. Despite an engine failure on the ferry across the Great Ouse Woodhouse finished in just over 9 hours well within the cut off time of 13 hours.

Five Wheelers were out on Easter Sunday, Paul Mynett, Tony Lodge, Steve Myatt and Rodger Holmes riding a 60 mile loop to Snaith and back while Club President Christine Minto soloed out to Worksop on a 55 mile ride.
Sunday’s club run is yet to be decided. Meet at Brewers Fayre roundabout Wombwell at 9am. Visitors are welcome.
