Last Sunday Wheeler Dave Scargill rode in the LVRC Tour of the Wolds Road Race near Great Limber in Lincolnshire. Scargill was well to the fore over the 4 laps of the 10 mile circuit and in the final sprint just missed out on a podium place in his age group finishing 4th.
Trevor Mayne rode the same course over 5 laps. He attacked twice in the first 7 miles and the 2nd time was able to establish a break with one other rider. After 20 miles 7 riders breached over to join the pair. The pace increased and Mayne lost contact with 10 miles to go finally finishing 15th in his age group.
The previous Wednesday, Trevor Mayne and Paul Heggie rode in the Barnsley RC 10 mile time trial at Park Springs. Mayne finished in 22m 41s to place 2nd behind Darren Gough of Barnsley RC while Heggie riding his road bike finished in 27m 44s.
Sunday saw two groups out. Christine Minto, Tina Oakes, Diane Barron, Sally Salter, James Garner and Rodger Holmes rode a 35 mile loop to Askern.
Robert Parkes, Phillip Stewart Adams, Roger Bacon, Marc Peasgood and Dave Hudson headed out via Garforth where Bacon and Peasegood turned for home, whilst the remaining three completed a 100 mile loop to Knaresborough and back.
This Sunday’s club run to Hope in the Peaks leaves Brewers Fayre roundabout Wombwell at 9 am. Visitors are welcome.
