Last Sunday at the VTTA (North Midlands) Prize luncheon, held at the Carlton Park Hotel in Rotherham, Birdwell Wheeler Trevor Mayne was presented with the Brian Beardsley Trophy.
This was for his achievement in the Team Swift 12 hour Time Trial on July 28th when he covered a distance of 253.94 miles in the 12 hours. This was 57.39 miles further than the standard for his age and was the greatest margin of all riders in the District.

On the same day, on a rare dry day, two groups headed towards Birkin meeting up in the Fisheries café. Steve Myatt, Philip Stewart Adams, Tina Oakes, Rodger Senior and Austin D Watson rode a 60 mile loop while Dave Hudson, Robert Parkes, Alan Bullock and Marc Peasegood rode an extra 10 miles on the way out.
